HACKENSACK, NJ—NJIT had four players reach double-figure kills en route to a 3-1 road victory over Fairleigh Dickinson Wednesday evening at the Stratis Arena in women's volleyball action.
The Highlanders, who improve to 6-8 on the season dropped the first set by a score of 25-18, but won the next three frames to take the match, 25-15, 25-9, 25-21. The Knights dropped to 4-9 on the season.

Camilla Tinari and freshman
Fran Edmondson with 13 followed by 12 from senior
Janet Snell and 10 from
Julia Colombo. Colombo, who made her first appearance of the 2012 season, hit .421 for the match with 10 kills, two errors on 19 swings while adding five digs for the Highlanders.
Valerie Carroll also added to the offense hitting .600 with seven kills, one error on 10 attempts.

Anna Mercado combined for a match-high 42 assists while three Highlanders registered double-digit kills led by Tinari with 15, Snell 13 and libero
Renata Pandolfo with 11. Tinari and Snell each notched a double-double on the evening.
The Knights were led by Meaghan Wheeler with 15 kills. Setter Allison Butler piled up 28 assists while Deborah Hong led FDU defensively with 19 digs. Hanifa Addi posted a match-high five block assists.
In the first set, the set remained close until 12-10, after a kill by FDU's Hanifa. The Knights scored four straight points for a 16-10 lead. The Highlanders would come as close as five, 20-15, as the home team cruised to a 25-18 victory.
The next frame stayed close until the mid-teens when the Highlanders rallied off four straight points for an 18-12 lead, resulting in an FDU timeout. The Knights came out of the timeout with a kill by Hanifa, but it was the Highlanders who rallied off the next three points for a 21-13 lead. Edmondson put down two kills in the run as NJIT closed out the set on a 4-2 run for a 25-15 win.
The Highlanders hit .517 in the third set combining for 15 kills on 29 swings with no errors for a 25-9 victory.
In the final frame, the set saw 11 ties up until 20-20. A kill by NJIT's Edmondson and a service ace by Tinari, gave the Highlanders a 22-20 lead. FDU head coach called timeout to regroup his squad. After the timeout, Wheeler answered with a kill for the Knights. NJIT then scored the next two points on back-to-back kills by Snell and Edmondson as the Knights called for their final timeout of the match. NJIT came away with the match, 25-21, after an FDU service error.
The Highlanders will break for a week and return to action on Thursday, September 27 at 6pm in Great West Conference action at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center . NJIT will host Houston Baptist.
