NJIT scored once in each half for a 2-0 win over Howard in Atlantic Soccer Conference men's soccer action Saturday night.
The Highlanders, who are 2-2 in conference play, got key boosts Saturday from sophomore Erik Magnusson and junior Kevin Blanco.
NJIT got on the board with a goal from Magnusson at 23:09, assisted by Patrick O'Driscoll. Magnusson, a native of Sweden, leads the team with five goals and 12 points while O'Driscoll a sophomore picks up his first assist of the season.
Goalkeeper Josh Osit, recorded his third shutout of the season with eight saves on twelve Bison shots. Osit's first shutout came against nationally ranked No. 22 San Diego State back on September 17 then again a month later on October 17 against Longwood.
The Highlanders got an insurance goal at 50 minute mark when Kevin Blanco put one in the back of the net recording his first goal of the season. Blanco has one goal, two assists and four points on the season.
NJIT, with two wins in its last three contests, is 3-10-1 overall on the season. Howard is 3-5-5 overall, including a 1-1-1 record in the conference.
The Highlanders who have three games left in the regular season will host Bucknell in a non-conference match on Lubetkin Field Wednesday, October 31at 7 pm.
NJIT will turn around and face Adelphi in a ASC conference match-up on Saturday, November 3 which will mark the last home game for seniors: Brian Nash, Dario Brito, Robert Herrera and Collin Cunning. The match begins at 2pm.
