Peg Hefferan, named Associate Director of Athletics for Administration & Student-Athlete Services/Senior Woman Administrator at NJIT in the winter of 2016-17, brings over twenty years of athletic administration experience in Division I Intercollegiate Athletics, Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics
Lenny Kaplan announced.
"I feel very fortunate to have Peg come on board as one of my senior staff members," Kaplan added. "She is a consummate professional and proven veteran administrator. Throughout the process it was clear she knew what NJIT was all about and will fit in with ease."
An aide to longtime Director of Athletics Walt Hameline, Hefferan spent 12 years at Wagner College as Senior Associate Athletic Director & Senior Woman's Administrator and the Associate Athletic Director & Senior Woman's Administrator (2004-2015).
Throughout her time on Staten Island, Hefferan's primary responsibilities included: sport administration and supervisory oversight of Wagner's NCAA compliance program, Academic Services and serving as the department's liaison to Financial Aid and Admissions.

She has represented the Northeast Conference at the national level, serving on the NCAA Division I Management Council (2004-2008), Legislative Council (2008-2010) NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Governance Committee; NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship Committee and served as chair of the Northeast Conference Senior Woman's Administrators Committee.
Having begun her career in athletics administration with a highly successful 15-year stint at Seton Hall University, Hefferan served in various capacities including Associate Director of the Office of Academic Support Services for Student-Athletes and Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Program Administration.
While at Seton Hall, Hefferan served as a member of the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship Committee (1999-2002), as well as a member of the BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Sport Committee and the BIG EAST Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Peg Hefferan earned her Bachelor of Science from Penn State University in biology and Master's in Business Administration from Seton Hall University. While at Penn State, Hefferan was a four-year softball letterwinner.
Hefferan's niece (Amanda) was a member of the NJIT women's cross country and track and field teams and graduated in 2012 with a Science, Technology, and Society/History degree.
She resides in Green Brook, NJ.
