Tamer Tahoun


Tamer Tahoun, a two-time Olympic fencer and head coach, joined the NJIT men’s and women’s fencing coaching staff in October 2019 as an Assistant Foil Coach.

Tahoun serves as the head coach of Premier Fencing club, member of the coaching staff for Team USA and coached the US and Canadian teams in the Cadet & Junior World Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Recent achievements of his pupils include: two World Championships medals (gold and silver) and bronze in the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 and many world cup medals.

Prior to his career in the US, Tahoun served as the Egyptian National Foil Team Fencing Coach from 2009 to 2011 and coached the Egyptian Youth Olympic Team at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 2010.

As an athlete, Tahoun was the Egyptian Senior National Champion from 1999 to 2008, fenced in the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 with a top-15 finish.

Tahoun captured five African Championships individual gold medals and numerous medals in the World Cups and Grand Prix.

Additionally, Tahoun is an FIE International Referee in the disciplines of foil and epee.
