Dan Morogiello

Former major league hurler Dan Morogiello began sharing his wisdom with the NJIT pitchers when he joined the coaching staff in 2004-05.

Morogiello was a 1976 third-round draft choice of the Atlanta Braves and played a total of 10 professional seasons, reaching the majors with the Baltimore Orioles in 1983. That season, he posted a 2.39 earned-run average in 22 relief appearances, helping Baltimore to the World Series championship.

Before turning pro, Morogiello pitched two seasons at Seton Hall, leading the Pirates to the College World Series in 1975. Following his professional career, he pitched 10 more years in the Metropolitan Baseball League and was inducted into the Bergen County (NJ) Hall of Fame. He is still active in over-30 leagues. Morogiello was pitching coach at Hunterdon Central Regional High School from 1999-2002.

He and his wife, Nancy, have two daughters, Vanessa, 25, and Jenna, 13. Son Dan is redshirting in 2007 after three seasons as the starting second baseman for the Highlanders.
