TEANECK, NJ–FDU scored a late goal in the 88th minute to top visiting NJIT, 1-0, men's soccer non-conference action inside University Stadium.
The Knights improved to 1-0-1 on the young season while the Highlanders moved to 0-2-0 on the season.
With the match scoreless over 85 minutes, the Knights capitalized in the 88th minute on a goal by David Ivascu off a back foot pass from Arnau Rabassa Guillamon to give the home team a 1-0 lead.
After the first 45 minutes, both teams combined for just three shots. NJIT registered shots by Diogo Rebelo and Henrique Sardinha.
In the second half, FDU dominated the possession, out-shooting the Highlanders 13-to-1 with NJIT's lone shot coming in the 60th minute off the foot of senior Sergio Martinez Cubel.
Highlander goalkeeper Devin Armstrong combined for six saves. Armstrong made diving saves in the 63rd minute, 68th minute and on back-to-back opportunities in the 78th and 79th minutes to keep the Knights off the board.
