POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Briana Andreoli broke the Division I program record with her goal in the 33rd minute, helping NJIT (2-1-0) earn a 3-2 victory over Marist (0-3-0) on Sunday afternoon at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.
In the 16th minute,
Merle Hueser scored her first goal of the season on a corner kick to give NJIT a 1-0 lead, assisted by
Emily Jozak and
Sofia Mignon.
Marist's Olivia Lindsay responded with a goal in the 23rd minute, assisted by Jiji Sweiss.
Andreoli tallied her first goal of the season in the 33rd minute, assisted by
Sydney Burlingame. The senior now has 34 points (13 goals, 8 assists) in her NJIT career.
The Red Foxes tied the match again in the 43rd minute, when Isabella Seibert scored with an assist from Sophia DeJoia. The teams went into halftime knotted at 2-2.
In the 56th minute, Jozak netted the game-winning goal for NJIT, assisted by
Kennedy Westbrook. Jozak led the Highlanders with three points.
Hueser, Mignon, and Westbrook played the full 90 minutes.
Marist led in shots (12-4), shots on goal (4-3), and possession (60%-40%).
