NJIT Women’s Soccer Falls To Vermont 2-1 In America East Home Opener

NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT women's soccer team (3-7-1, 0-2 AE) fell to Vermont (6-3-3, 1-2 AE), 2-1, in its America East home opener on Thursday night at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
 
In the 10th minute, Samantha Constantine made a huge save with her leg to keep the game scoreless.
   
Jill Brody scored her first goal of the season from outside the box in the 14th minute, giving Vermont the lead.
 
The Highlanders had an opportunity to tie the game in the 25th minute when Briana Andreoli took a shot, but Vermont goalkeeper Kylee Carafoli made an impressive save. Merle Hueser had a chance on the rebound, but she missed wide left. Vermont led 1-0 at halftime.
 
In the second half, Vermont's Emma Warren scored off a corner kick in the 57th minute, assisted by Kate Bossert and Torie Snyder.
 
NJIT capitalized on a 2-on-1 opportunity in the 64th minute, with Kelsey Ramos scoring her second goal of the season, assisted by Andreoli.
   
Mojisola Ayodele made a diving save in the 65th minute, keeping the score at 2-1.
 
NJIT led in shots (17-14), shots on goal (7-5), and corner kicks (8-3), but Vermont outpaced NJIT in possession (56%-44%).

NJIT hosts New Hampshire on Sunday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
