NEWARK, NJ--Head men's volleyball coach Danny Goncalves announced the addition of Ka'ala Deitch who will join the Highlanders in the Fall 2020.
The 6-foot-1 outside hitter from Keaau, HI was selected 2019 Big Island Interscholastic Federation Player of the Year and a first-team honoree.
"Ka'ala is a very dynamic player that will bring a fast arm, big jump, and explosiveness to the gym," Goncalves added.
Deitch, who attended Ke Kula 'o Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu High School, earned 2019 Hawaii High School Athletic Association Honorable Mention, 2019 Scoring Live Hawaii All Hawaii Boys Volleyball second-team and 2019 Aloha Tournament Most Valuable Player.
A recipient of the 2020 Seal of Biliteracy and awarded the 2020 Multidisciplinary Hawaiian Studies Certificate, Deitch intends to major in chemical engineering at NJIT.
In addition to volleyball, Deitch was a state qualifier in cross country.
