2019-20 Academic All-ASUN Men's Basketball Team
ATLANTA, GA - Reilly Walsh, a graduate student on the NJIT men's basketball team, was named ASUN Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year and joined senior
Shyquan Gibbs on the ASUN All-Academic Team, it was announced on Monday.
Both players have now been named ASUN All-Academic three times in their NJIT careers.

Walsh, who also earned the honor as a sophomore and junior before missing all but three games of his season season due to injury, finished his undergraduate degree last May with a perfect 4.0 GPA and also has a perfect 4.0 GPA as he is on pace to receive an MBA in finance later this spring. The Staten Island, NY, native started 26 of 29 games for the Highlanders this season and is averaging career highs all major statistical categories. Walsh scored a season-high 15 points at Lipscomb earlier this season and has tallied 10+ points six times.
Gibbs was named to the ASUN All-Academic Team as a sophomore and junior and recently completed his undergraduate degree in December. The Hillside, NJ, native is now working towards a Master's Degree. Gibbs recently broke the program record for games played (124) and has started 107-straight games, which is the highest active streak in the ASUN and ranks 13th across all NCAA Division I programs. The guard is averaging 8.4 ppg and has a team-high 62 assists. Earlier this season Gibbs scored 21 points to help lead NJIT to a road win at Regular Season Co-Champion North Florida.Â
Both players are two-year captains and will help lead the Highlanders back on the court Tuesday evening when they open up ASUN Tournament action at top-seeded Liberty. Tip-off is slated for 7pm in the Vines Center.
