CoSIDA Release
NEWARK, NJ - Reilly Walsh, a graduate student on the NJIT men's basketball team, was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District recipient for the second time in his career, it was announced on Thursday.
The Academic All-Districtâ„¢ teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must be significant contributors to their teams and maintain at least a 3.30 grade point average (GPA).Â
Walsh, who finished his undergraduate degree last May with a perfect 4.0 GPA, also has a 4.0 GPA as he pursues an MBA in Finance.
The Staten Island, NY, native has started 22 games for the Highlanders this season and is currently averaging 4.9 ppg and 3.2 rpg.Â
Walsh was also named to the 2017-18 CoSIDA Academic All-District team as a junior and now automatically advances to the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Teamâ„¢, which will be announced next month.Â
The Highlanders return to the court this evening when they host Stetson in an ASUN Conference matchup at 7pm at the Wellness and Events Center in Newark.Â
