NEWARK, NJ--The NJIT Department of Athletics is pleased to offer a fan cut out program for the 2020-21 athletic season.   All proceeds from this program will go to benefit the newly created Highlander Student-Athlete Health and Wellness Fund.

"This is an unprecedented time in college athletics and now more than ever we are dealing with so many issues both on and off the field," said NJIT Director of Athletics, Lenny Kaplan.  "Through this program, all members of the Highlander Nation can continue to show their support for our teams by having a presence in the stands.  Although we would love to have them in person and cheering we have to do what is best for the community right now."

By participating in the Fan Cut Out program, fans will also help support the newly created Highlander Student-Athlete Health and Wellness fund.  The fund, established as a direct result of COVID-19, will help fund initiatives that support the student-athletes overall well-being.   Some of the things that are supported by the program are COVID-19 testing, fueling stations for pre and post-practice, and sport psychology programs.

"COVID-19 has presented a whole new set of challenges which hinder student-athletes from competing.  The Highlander Health and Wellness fund plays an important part in our ability to ensure that they are in a safe environment to compete both physically and emotionally," continued Kaplan.  "Every athlete wants to compete in front of fans.  Through the Fan Cut Out program, our athletes have the ability to look around the area and remember that they have support."

After your purchase, send your photo or photos for your fan cutout via email to athleticmarketing@njit.edu. Please include your full name in the email subject line. You will receive a confirmation email when your photo was approved or denied within 2-3 business days.  Once approved, it will take up to 7 days for your cutout to be printed and delivered to the Wellness and Events Center.

How to take and submit your photo to us:

• Wear your favorite NJIT gear.

• Make sure you have enough lighting for your photo.

• Have another person take the photo for you, no selfies.

• Make sure the photo is in jpeg or png format.

• Make sure the photo is at least waist up.

• Take the photo in a vertical format.

• Make sure your background is safe.

• Do not use a flash when taking the photo.

• You can hold a sign or prop but must be kept within your shoulders and it must be appropriate.

• Send your photo to athleticmarketing@njit.edu after making your donation. Please include your full name in the email subject line. You will receive a confirmation email if your photo was approved or denied within 2-3 business days.

Where will my fan cutout be located?
All cutouts will be placed in sections 106 and 107 behind the south side net.

Will I be able to receive my cutout at the end of the season?
At the end of the season, fans will have the opportunity to pick up their cutouts. More details will be released as the season comes to a close for pick up.

Will multiple cutouts I order be seated together?
Yes, cutouts ordered together will be placed together in seats.

How do I verify my cutout got placed?
We will take photos of your cutout in the stands and send it to your email address used to send your photo.

Does this mean no fans will be allowed at Highlanders games the entire season?
NJIT Athletics in collaboration with state and local government officials, the CDC, the NCAA, and the America East, are prioritizing the health and safety of its student-athletes, coaches, staff, community, and fans. With that said, it has been determined that spectators will not be permitted at home contests for the foreseeable future. It is disappointing news for all as we will miss seeing our Highlander faithful pack the WEC to support our student-athletes as the basketball season begins. We will continue to follow guidance from state and local government officials, the CDC, the NCAA, and the America East to revisit this at the appropriate time when it is safe to do so.

How can I watch the Highlanders this year?
All games will be streamed on ESPN3 or ESPN+. NJIT's non-conference schedule and game times will be announced at a later date. Visit NJITHighlanders.com for schedule updates.
