DELAND, FL. – The NJIT Highlanders (16-5, 4-2 ASUN) defeated the Stetson Hatters (4-17, 0-5 ASUN) on Thursday at the Edmunds Center, 82-59.
The victory was NJIT's ninth road win of the season, which sets a new program Division I record, surpassing their 2015-16 record when the Highlanders won eight away from home.

NJIT's nine road wins is currently the second most of any team in D-I, which head coach
Brian Kennedy attributed to consistency.
"We're consistent in our approach and the way we play," Kennedy said. "I'm blessed as a coach to have a group of guys that every time they cross the line, they're ready to compete."
Sophomore
Zach Cooks led the scored a game-high 16 points, followed by
Donovan Greer's perfect 14-point performance off the bench, featuring 5-5 field goals and 4-4 three pointers.
Senior
Abdul Lewis finished with 12 points and seven rebounds in the game. The forward has a combined 55 points and 46 rebounds in his last three games.
However, Coach Kennedy's favorite stat came from the team's 22 assists on 30 baskets.
"That's really good team basketball," Kennedy said. "They're really sharing the ball and moving the ball around, it was great."
NJIT started strong from the start, opening 3-3 from three-point range from three different shooters - Cooks,
Shyquan Gibbs and Kjell de Graff.
Cooks led all scorers from the beginning, tallying 13 points in the half.
A 10-2 run from NJIT opened a 28-21 lead with under seven minutes remaining, but the Hatters answered back with a run of their own, hitting 4-5 field goals to pull back NJIT's lead to two points by the final media timeout.
Sophomore
Shawndale Jones rallied the Highlanders off the bench shooting 3-4 from the field for seven points to give NJIT a six-point lead at the break, 38-32.
The Highlanders came out in the second half firing on all cylinders, starting on a 13-1 run in the opening six minutes.
Lewis jolted to the offense from the get go, scoring three of NJIT's first four baskets, totaling 10 points in the second stanza.
NJIT's defense came out swarming, allowing just five points on 17% shooting from the field in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.
San Antonio Brinson scored five points in the half and nabbed five rebounds and three assists to keep NJIT on the offensive.
The Highlanders overwhelmed the Hatters, shooting 9-10 field goals and 4-5 three pointers heading into the final media timeout to extend their lead to as much as 28 points.
Squad rotation came into play as the Highlanders pulled away, allowing for 13 players to appear in the game.
"I've been playing some guys a lot of minutes so it was great to see some of our other guys really contribute out there," Kennedy said. "

Willis finished with five points in 14 minutes and Greer scored the team's last 11 points to finish the game.
NJIT shot 72% from the field in the second half and 58% from three-point range as the Highlanders closed out their 23-point victory.
NJIT next returns home to the Wellness and Events Center in Newark, N.J., on Sunday, January 27, where they will host North Alabama at 4 p.m.
