Women’s Soccer Opens ASUN Play at USC Upstate on Saturday at 1pm

NEWARK, NJ—
NJIT women's soccer will open ASUN Conference play on Saturday at 1pm when the Highlanders travel to Spartanburg, SC and visit USC Upstate at County University Soccer Stadium.

After opening the season with a 4-0-2 mark, NJIT has dropped its last four contests being shutout in each match. The Highlanders open league play with three-straight road contests.  The four wins this season for NJIT have come against – Wagner, Hartford, Saint Peter's and Iona

The Highlanders' 17 goals this year rank fourth in the program's Division I history, five-shy the single-season Division I record, 23 goals, accomplished in 2009.

NJIT looks for its first-ever ASUN Conference victory as the Highlanders finished last season, 0-7, which included a 2-0 loss to USC Upstate.

Upstate is 0-8-2 following a 2-1 home loss to Presbyterian College on September 16. Delaney Bussey scored her first collegiate goal in the 21st minute before the Blue Hose tied the game in the 28th minute. A goal in the 76th minute by Samantha Fink proved to be the difference-maker.

USC Upstate goalkeeper Brooke Bailey ranks first in the NCAA for total saves with 77.

Last season against NJIT, the Spartans left Newark with a 2-0 victory as Kate Winegarner delivered the game-winner in the 30th minute.

Brooke Bailey, Maddie Little and Nicki Krejci have started all ten matches for the Spartans.
