PRINCETON, NJ – Despite 17 kills from freshman Christian Puszies, NJIT dropped a 3-0 decision at Princeton Thursday evening at Dillon Gym.
Princeton, who has won its last five out of seven matches, improved to 12-9 on the season with the 30-27, 30-22, 30-24 victory.
The Tigers had three players reach double-figure totals in the kills category led by junior Vincent Tuminelli. Tuminelli shared match-high honors with NJIT's Puszies, collecting 17 kills. Pat Schwagler recorded 14 kills while Carl Hamming posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.
Sophomore Adam Gustafson posted 11 kills for the Highlanders. Gustafson hit a team-high .550 (11k, 0e, 20a). Freshman Kevin Van Oss was one kill shy reaching double-figures notching nine kills. Setter Matthew Lui piled up 36 assists while Brady Smith added 10 digs.
The Highlanders will wrap up the 2010 season at Harvard in an EIVA Hay Division matchup in Cambridge, MA on Saturday at 3pm.
Harvard defeated NJIT, 3-0, in Newark on March 6 led by Matt Jones's 20 kills.
