BUFFALO, NY – NJIT freshman Christian Puszies notched a match-high 30 kills as visiting NJIT came out on top, 3-2, over D'Youville in men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon at College Center Gym.

NJIT started off the match taking the first frame 30-16 but D'Youville evened the match with a 32-30 victory in the second set.

The Highlanders hit .361 in the third set to go up 2-1, with a 30-16 win, but D'Youville rallied back for a 30-26 win before the Highlanders took the fifth set, 15-8, for the match.

Puszies recorded 30 kills while teammate Kevin Van Oss added 17 kills on 29 attempts for a .483 hitting percentage.

Four Highlanders posted double-digit figures defensively -- Brady Smith and Andrei Stoyanow posted 16 digs apiece while Matthew Lui and Adam Gustafson added 12 digs.  Lui piled up a match-high 45 assists followed by Gustafson's 13 assists.

Gustafson tallied eight total blocks (one solo, seven assists) while Doug Battersby recorded six block assists in front of the net for the Highlanders.

Jeremy Sajdak had 22 kills followed by Chris Krueger with 13 kills for D'Youville. Chris Temple had12 kills for the Spartans.

NJIT will return to action on March 19 at 7pm when they visit Pacific.
