The New Jersey Institute of Technology men's tennis team fell to NCAA Division I opponent, Fairleigh Dickinson University, 7-0, Sunday night at the Tenafly Racquet Club.
NJIT is 3-4 overall, with all four losses coming against NCAA Division I opponents. The Highlanders previously lost to Lafayette, Temple and Rhode Island.
The Highlanders, who are 3-0 in 2005-06 against Division II opponents, are reclassifying and will face a Division I schedule next year. This year, they are facing a schedule of mostly Division II opponents, with some Division I foes mixed in.
FDU won all of the matches, with the closest scores coming at first singles and first doubles. NJIT's number one player, Steve Arlt, lost his first singles match to FDU's Daniel Wynne, 1-6, 3-6, and Arlt teamed with Ramy Lawandy in a 5-8 first doubles loss to Wynne and Juan Pablo Medina.
The Highlanders are scheduled to visit Queens on Friday, before hosting Pace at the Tenafly Racquet Club on Saturday at 7:15 pm.
