NEWARK, NJ--NJIT women's soccer head coach
Ally Nick has announced that five student-athletes will join the Highlanders in the Fall 2018 season.
The 2017 Highlanders, set a program record for wins in a season (9), shutouts (7) and finished above .500 (9-8 overall). NJIT concluded its non-conference portion of its schedule with a 7-3 mark and went 6-2 at home.
"Coming off the best season in program history, we are excited for this class to continue to add talent and depth to our roster," second-year head coach Nick added. "The four incoming freshmen and transfer, Alexis (Magruder), all come from high level club programs and are used to competing at top levels against top competition. Players in this class have the potential to join Arianna (Gerber), Yasmeen (Malik) and Briana (Hackos) in receiving all-conference accolades throughout their careers. Returning 23 players and the addition of this class, expectations are set for us to reach the conference tournament and build off of our record breaking 2017 season.
The incoming group includes four freshmen and one transfer--
Whitney Roth (center midfield; Newtown, PA),
Molly Saylor (goalkeeper; South Park, PA),
Fiona Wright (center midfield; Ajax, Ontario, Canada),
Siani Magruder (defender; Egg Harbor Township, NJ) and transfer
Alexis Magruder (forward; Egg Harbor Township, NJ).

Whitney Roth | 5-6 | Center Midfield | Newtown, PA
Whitney Roth, a three-time Suburban One National League Champion at Pennsbury High School, will add depth for the Highlanders in the midfield.
Roth, a member of the 2014 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District 1 Champions at Pennsbury, was selected Suburban One All-League third-team in 2016 in addition to Bucks County Courier Times Golden Team Honorable Mention.
She played club for Cedar Stars Academy.
Roth intends to major in Law, Technology and Culture at NJIT.
Molly Saylor | 5-10 | Goalkeeper | South Park, PA
Molly Saylor, a four-year letterwinner and two-time captain at South Park High School, was named 2017 All-Section, All-District, All-Pittsburgh Region and All-State during her senior campaign.
As a sophomore and junior, Saylor earned All-Section and All-District recognition.
Saylor played club for Century V United - Eastern Regional League.
A multi-sport athlete at South Park High School, Saylor was a two-year letterwinner in basketball, two-time captain and district qualifier in track and field.
Saylor intends to major in civil engineering at NJIT.
Fiona Wright | 5-9 | Center Midfield | Ajax, Ontario, Canada
Fiona Wright, who hails from Canada, attended J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate and played for FC Durham Academy.
Wright intends to major in mathematics at NJIT.
Siani Magruder | 5-3 | Defender | Egg Harbor Township, NJ
Siani Magruder, joins sister Alexis (Magruder), who joined the Highlanders in the Spring after transferring from Coastal Carolina.
Magruder attended Egg Harbor Township High School, where she was selected All-South Jersey and Cape Atlantic League first-team. She played for the PDA Pride.
Magruder intends to major in biology at NJIT.
Alexis Magruder | 5-6 | Forward | Egg Harbor Township, NJ
Alexis Magruder, a transfer from Coastal Carolina, joined the Highlanders in the Spring of 2018.
At Coastal Carolina, Magruder was named to the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List, Dean's List and President's List while appearing in 15 matches and posting three goals.
A four-year letterwinner at Egg Harbor Township, Magruder earned All-Conference first-team and All-South Jersey third-team during her sophomore campaign.
Magruder played PDA for the South Paws.
She intends to major in Communications and Media at NJIT.
