The NJIT women’s basketball team will host University of North Dakota Sunday at 2pm in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center closing out the home portion of the schedule. … Senior Day ceremonies will begin at 1:30pm. … North Dakota leads the all-time series, 1-0.

 

NJIT (11-13, 6-2 GWC, 5-0 at home vs. GWC opponents) is coming off a 55-53 victory over University of South Dakota Thursday afternoon at the Prudential Center.  Thursday’s victory marks the most wins for NJIT since playing a Division I schedule, which began in 2006-07.

 

Gerald, reining Great West Conference Player of the Week leads the Highlanders on the season with (15.9ppg), ranks second in the conference in scoring (16.3ppg) and third in free throw percentage (126-169; .746).

 

The other double-figure scorer for NJIT is senior Taiwo Oyelola with (10.0ppg).  She leads the team on the boards with (158 rebounds; 6.6rpg).

 

Last time both teams met (February 23), North Dakota had four starters reach double-digits paced by Kayla Bagaason’s 20 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the field, as the Fighting Sioux defeated NJIT, 69-44.

 

North Dakota (13-13, 8-1 GWC) picked up its seventh consecutive win and sixth straight in the conference with a 70-66 win over Chicago State Thursday evening.  The Fighting Sioux are 10-3 since the New Year and 5-0 in the month of February.

 

Bagaason, one of three Fighting Sioux to start every game (26), leads the team in scoring (14.0ppg) and ranks third in the conference under NJIT’s Gerald.  The two other double-figure scorers for North Dakota are Mallory Youngblut (12.0ppg) and Whitney Ledger (10.4ppg).  Youngblut leads the team with 178 rebounds (6.8rpg) followed by Ledger’s 157 (6.5rpg).
