Women’s Basketball Preview vs. South Dakota

NJIT host South Dakota Thursday at 5pm in the Prudential Center

 

The NJIT women's basketball team will host Great West Conference opponent South Dakota Thursday evening at the Prudential Center. … NJIT and South Dakota will meet for the first time this season.

 

South Dakota (12-12, 4-3 in the conference) has won four of its last five games and sits in fourth place in the conference.  The Coyotes average 58.2 points per game and allow 55.6.

 

The leading scorer for the Coyotes is Amber Hegge (12.3ppg) and (6.1rpg) while Abby Kinder averages (10.9ppg). 

 

South Dakota is coming off a 63-52 win over SIU Edwardsville on February 21.  Hegge led the Coyotes with 16 points while Jasmine Mosley added 15.

 

NJIT (10-13, 5-2 in the conference) lost at North Dakota Tuesday, 69-44.  Junior Jessica Gerald had nine points for the Highlanders and leads the team on the season with (16.1ppg) – which is second in the Great West Conference.  Forward Taiwo Oyelola is the Highlanders other double-figure scorer with (10.1ppg) and leads the team in rebounding (6.5).  Taiwo set a NJIT Division I record at North Dakota grabbing 14 rebounds.
