NAPERVILLE, Ill. – NJIT’s Michelle Borth has been selected Great West Conference Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday evening.
Houston Baptist’s Ashley Pierce tabbed Defensive Player of the Week honors posting two shutouts.
Borth, a junior from Federal Way, Washington, received her first honor of the season after scoring two goals for a total of four points last week.
The 5-foot-10 defender scored her first goal of the season Monday night against Iona in a 2-1 loss in overtime. It was the first goal for Borth since her freshman season in 2007, when she scored twice.
Borth's penalty kick on Sunday at Howard was the only score for NJIT in a 1-1 double overtime draw.
NJIT will visit South Carolina State on Friday in a 7 pm matchup in Orangeburg, SC. That game is a rematch a week after the Highlanders opened Great West Conference play with a hard-fought 2-1 home win against the Lady Bulldogs.
