Dom Hayes Makes NJCBA Division I All-Rookie Team

May 28, 2008

New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association all-State Team

NEWARK, NJ - New Jersey Institute of Technology freshman Dom Hayes was selected by the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association to the 2008 all-rookie all-state team as an outfielder.

The team was chosen in voting conducted among the coaches of the state Division I teams, which include Rutgers, Seton Hall, Princeton, Monmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, Rider and Saint Peter's, in addition to the Highlanders.

Hayes is the second NJIT outfielder to be selected for Division I all-state honors as the Highlanders finish up their second year competing at the NCAA Division I level. Last year, outfielder Kwesi Mitchell was named to the Division I first-team all-state team.

NJIT's starting right fielder, Hayes hit safely in 34 out of 48 games, while finishing second on the team with a .316 batting average. His 49 runs scored ranked him second on the team and 24 runs batted in ranked him third.

His first collegiate homerun came against BIG EAST Rutgers on March 12, where he hit a solo shot to lead off the fourth inning.
