NJIT Coach Radu and 3 Players Will Go to College Cup

Nov. 21, 2006

NEWARK, NJ - New Jersey Institute of Technology women's soccer coach Alyssa Radu and NJIT players Amanda Bayiokos, Katie Hepfinger and Briana Morales will be part of championship weekend for the NCAA 2006 Division I Women's College Cup, as they will offer a youth clinic on December 2 in Cary, North Carolina.

The national semifinals will be played at SAS Soccer Park in Cary on December 1 and the national championship game will be played there on December 3.

The Highlander contingent will take part in what is officially called the NCAA Division I Women's College Cup YES Clinic on December 2 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am in the SAS Soccer Park. Girls and boys ages 10-16 will benefit from the clinics. YES stands for Youth Education through Sports.

The three Highlanders players were selected from among student-athletes from all over the country who applied to take part as volunteers in the clinic. The criteria for selection included having sound fundamental skills and additional qualities, such as leadership skills, communication skills, palnning and priority-setting skills/collaborative skills.

The NCAA offers YES Clinics in conjunction with all of its national championship events in the various sports. The YES Clinic is part of the NCAA's premier outreach to youth, with fundamental sports instruction from collegiate student-athletes and coaches representing successful NCAA programs.

The instruction allows young athletes to learn conditioning tips to improve athletic performance, discover life skills that will benefit them as a student-athlete and receive hands-on instruction from NCAA student-athletes and coaches.
