Jay Card

Jay Card, a professional lacrosse player, former college star at Hofstra, and former captain of the Canadian U19 National team, joined NJIT in 2014 as an assistant coach of the program’s inaugural season (2015).
 
Card, who captained Canada’s U19 team in 2008, was one of the top players in the powerful Colonial Athletic Association throughout his four-year career at Hofstra, a perennial national power in the college game.
 
He opened his career at Hofstra on Long Island in 2008, earning CAA Rookie of the Year honors, and following that up with the CAA Player of the Year award in his sophomore year. He was all-CAA first team in his final three college seasons after making second-team all-CAA as a rookie. Hofstra played in the NCAA Tournament following each of his seasons.
 
Playing for the Hofstra Pride, he was a 3-time USILA All-American and was a 3-time nominee for the Tewaarton Trophy, finishing in the Top 20 each of his last three years for an award that recognizes the NCAA lacrosse Player of the Year). In 2009, he won the Howdy Myers Award as Hofstra’s Male Athlete of the Year. With 122 career goals, he graduated second on the Hofstra career list.
 
Since graduating from college in 2011, he has played professionally, both indoors and outdoors. The 14th overall selection in the 2011 Major Lacrosse League draft, taken by the Long Island Lizards, he has also played for the Rochester Rattlers of MLL in addition to the Minnesota Swarm of the National Lacrosse League.
 
In addition to playing, Card has coached at the Hofstra University Lacrosse Camps and Clinics and been Camp Director at Xcelerate Lacrosse in Cleveland.
