    Assistant Baseball Coach

Mike Cole named his former University of Vermont teammate Trevor Marcotte as pitching coach for NJIT, starting with the 2011 season.

Marcotte, who was a hometown player at UVM, having been born in Burlington, VT, has been a professional pitcher since graduating from college in 2001.

His nine-year professional career has taken him to numerous stops, as far north and west as Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and as far southwest as El Paso, Texas.

By coincidence, he pitched in 2010 for the Newark Bears, whose home field, Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium, is also the home of the NJIT Highlanders.

He has been both a starting pitcher and a reliever in his professional career, having started 77 games and relieved in 76 games. His best statistical season was 2003, when he was 9-4 with a 3.46 earned run average for the New Jersey Jackals of the Northeast League in his third year of pro ball.

In college, Marcotte had a fine career at Vermont, tying for 10th in school history with 15 career wins. He is ninth on the all-time Catamounts list in appearances (54), 12th in strikeouts (155) and 13th in innings pitched (194.1).

He resides in Mahwah, NJ.
