NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ -- NJIT women's swimmers Karen Cilento, Teresa Higgins, Sadie Mele and Rachael Abadie joined forces to set school records four times at the Metropolitan Swimming Championships at Rutgers University Friday afternoon.
In the preliminary heats of the 200 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard medley relay the quartet broke the existing school records. Returning for the evening's finals, the Highlanders reset their records in both events.
Additionally, Mele and Abadie scored points in the 50 yard freestyle. At the end of the first day of competition, the Highlander women stand in 10th place.
The Metropolitan Swimming Championships will continue through Sunday.
